A little lesson.
When you first comment on this blog (God love you for doing that, by the way) the comment and sender will appear in my email and require me to approve or disapprove the sender. You only have to do that once (though if you send from a different email it will register it as a new person. Sometimes this has flummoxed people why comments don’t automatically appear – it’s waiting to be moderated.) Once you have been approved, your comments will automatically appear on the blog.
I never disapprove a comment (God love you for doing that, by the way) as I am soooooo thrilled someone is a) reading this little thing and b) bothering to comment. I am too thrilled to work out if the person commenting may be a serial killer or some such (None thus far, in case you’re wondering.)
What this blog does though, much like any email filter, is capture spam and separate it. Every now and then I will review the spam folder (more quickly when someone asks me where’s my comment?) and try to work out how the whole spam thing works. With each comment comes a person’s name and webpage. I presume by clicking on the webpage I somehow generate them cash? How does that work? Does anyone know?
Some of the spam is clearly advertising junk. Others are more fascinating and I mention them here as I want people’s input on how they work.
A couple of spam messages told me : ” Hey Do you know that your header is not showing up while browsing in Firefox, it looks fine in explorer though.Greetings”. I presume they do show up in Firefox though I’m not sure how making me check that helps anyone, unless you work for Firefox I guess.
This was magnificently spammy:
An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing a little bit analysis on this. And he in fact purchased me breakfast as a result of I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! However yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If doable, as you change into expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It’s highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this weblog publish!
I am just thrilled someone is getting breakfast as a result of my impressive share/treat blog. Hope it was a full English and not muesli. I’d like to think my blog is worth a full English.
Then, finally, there was this:
obviously like your web-site however you need to check the spelling on several of your posts. Many of them are rife with spelling problems and I to find it very troublesome to tell the truth however I’ll definitely come back again.
Thanks. I think. That’s the weirdest spam ever. Insult me, that’ll make me click on your links. Particularly insulting my spelling when I to find your grammar very troublesome. I know my webpage is rife with spelling errors (in fact, I have admitted as such myself) however full points for drawing attention to it in your first comment ever to me. That’s up there with “looks aren’t everything, nurse. You’ve got a nice personality.”
I was tempted to click on the link just to see if it was legit. I didn’t cos I am not a complete idiot. However, nearly…. maybe that’s the point.
Any thoughts? Comments? (God love you for doing that, by the way)
I don’t have anything to say this time. You can say ‘God love you for doing that’ again, by the way. No offence will be taken.
Well, I was hoping it was going to a blog about one of my indulgences —- fried Spam and mustard sandwiches!
Oh I agree.
I love fried spam. That spam I can’t get enough of…
I , personally don’t understand either spams and wish they would both go away!
oh KB… fried spam is heaven. I know you probably don’t think so as a vegetarian however all of that compressed mystery meat (think the worst part of offal) and fried and seriously it’s one of the food of the gods….
